Linkin Park owns the Billboard 200 this week, as their
latest release, the uncharacteristically poppy One More Light, begins at No. 1.
The title is the only new entry inside the top 10 this week on the all-genre
tally, and the other nine positions are controlled by records that have been
here before, some for months now.
Steady in the runner-up position is Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN.,
which controlled the No. 1 position for the first three weeks it was available.
Since then, the rapper’s latest has continued to perform extremely well, and
for a while this past week, it looked as if DAMN. was headed back to the peak.
The album, which produced his first chart-topping song as a solo artist
(“Humble.,” which sat at No. 1 for just a single frame), moved just under
100,000 units this week.
Down to third place after running the show is Harry Styles’
debut solo self-titled album. The record began at the top of the charts all
around the world, and sliding two spots is actually a very respectable second
week showing for the record.
Drake’s playlist project/album hybrid More Life climbs to
No. 4 this time around, proving that people are continuing to stream the
lengthy collection. Country artist Chris Stapleton remains inside the top 10
yet again with his new album From A Room: Vol. 1, which was blocked from the top
slot just a few weeks ago.
Ed Sheeran’s two-week No. 1 album Divide is also up this
week, rising from No. 9 to No. 6. The British singer-songwriter's new studio
effort likely won’t disappear from the region for a long time, as his recent
No. 1 smash “Shape Of You” is still being streamed and played on radio
non-stop, and his label is just getting started when it comes to pushing
follow-up cuts as singles.
