The Weeknd Invites Drake to Surprise Their Hometown at Toronto Concert: Watch

The Weeknd beamed in fellow Torontonian Drake at the tail end of the first of two hometown shows Friday night (May 26) at Air Canada Centre for his Legend of the Fall Tour.

After the Weeknd performed "Can't Feel My Face" and "I Feel It Coming," Drizzy appeared in the darkness on the lengthy runway beneath the "Starboy Starship" jet-shaped overhead lighting rig.

The crowd roared in delight, as even those in the far reaches of the sold-out arena knew something was indeed coming. As the lights came on, there was the familiar 6 God, fresh off a record-setting 13 wins at the Billboard Music Awards last weekend.
The Weeknd -- real name Abel Tesfaye -- touring behind his third studio album, Starboy, let Drake take the spotlight, choosing to remain on the main stage in front of his band. Drizzy paused to take in the adoration. "I just want to know, is the greatest city in the world in the motherf---ing building tonight, yes or no?" to an expected roar.

"I came out here for one reason and one reason only: to support one of the most important artists of this generation." That, too, received loud applause. "He goes by the name of The Weeknd. We started this OVO XO shit together, and we can never let it die."

Drake then called his friend and OVO crewmember Baka to join him. "We need to do it like Las Vegas," he said, before the two launched into the new single "Gyalchester" from More Life.

The crowd sang along to every word. After the line "Hermes link, ice-blue mink," Drake said, "Hold on, stop that shit." He hugged Baka and asked the crowd to "make some noise" for him as Baka walked off, leaving Drake to continue.
"Alright, can I get the whole city to sing along with me on this next shit?" he said to screams, as the music for "Fake Love" started. "I wanna here everybody from the top down to the bottom." And they did, shouting back every line.

“And there you have it, the greatest city in the motherf---in’ world,” Drake concluded.

The Weeknd, meanwhile, was standing -- and grooving -- on the main stage, not doing anything to take away from Drake’s five minutes. The two shared a big hug before Drake exited.

The Weeknd -- whose set also included appearances by 6lack, NAV, Rae Sremmurd, Belly and Roy Woods -- will do it all again Saturday night (May 27) at the ACC. Who knows whether Drake will make a return appearance, but The Weeknd's girlfriend, Selena Gomez, is in town -- a video appeared online of her singing along to "True Colors" -- and that would be a killer surprise.
