Kendrick Lamar just unveiled his new video for “LOYALTY.,” a cut off his double-Platinum album DAMN. The video is directed by Dave Meyers and The Little Homies (a.k.a. Kendrick and TDE’s Dave Free). It features Kendrick and Rihanna caught up in a series of dangerous scenarios, including a car accident and a street fight.
At one point a white-suited Kendrick is threatened and interrogated by a black-suited version of himself, which could be a reflection of the “wickedness vs. weakness” theme that’s seen throughout the album. The video also features sharks that swim in the streets, which bear a (perhaps unintentionally) striking resemblance to the syndicated ‘90s cartoon Street Sharks:
In the middle of the video, the song cuts out and DAMN.’s “PRIDE.” intro plays:
Love’s gonna get you killed
But pride’s gonna be the death of you and you and me
And you and you and you and me
“LOYALTY.” is Kendrick’s fourth video from DAMN., following “HUMBLE.,” “DNA.,” and “ELEMENT.”
