Antonio Conte angrily dressed down his players after their humiliating 3-0 defeat to Roma in the Champions League and threatened to make examples of the worst offenders, reports claim.
The Italian launched a full inquest into the manner of their latest loss, in what’s been a troubling start to the season, and
his is willing to leave out any player who fails to follow his orders against Manchester United.
Conte has been seriously concerned by the attitude of his team in recent weeks and his side are already nine points behind Manchester City in the Premier League. And after their poor result in Rome, Conte snapped and he brutally addressed his Chelsea players, according to the Telegraph.
The former Juventus boss accused them of failing to take responsibility and took particular exception to the abysmal defending on display at the Stadio Olimpico. Conte is certain he has the backing of the Chelsea board, despite reports claiming Roman Abramovich has decided to sack him, and he is not afraid to take on the big stars in the dressing room in order to truly assert his authority.
While Jose Mourinho may have fallen out with the squad after winning the Premier League, the players are thought to have accepted Conte’s criticism and have vowed to work harder to get their season back on track. Another defeat at the hands of Manchester United on Sunday, though, could force further divisions among the Chelsea squad.
