Kanye West’s upcoming Yandhi album almost seems like a long forgotten dream (or nightmare, depending on who you ask). After traveling to Africa to allegedly finish the highly delayed project, fans still haven’t gotten their hands on it.
Earlier this week, ‘Ye shared the second episode of his newly launched Sunday Service series, which is essentially a jam session with a variety of his musician friends. During the event, ‘Ye joined several musicians for a newly revised version of “Ghost Town,” a track taken from 2018’s ye.
“Don’t it feel to know you can never be canceled,” he said during the outro. “They say, ‘You can’t do this. You can’t do that, you’ll lose your career,’ but I’m still here.”
But around the 26-minute mark, Kanye appears to give the audience an instrumental taste of Yandhi in the form of a previously unheard song, “We’ll Find A Way.” Elsewhere in the video, he sings a Gospel-infused version of Michael Jackson’s “Will You Be There.”
The G.O.O.D. Music mastermind delivered multiple albums last summer, including Kids See Ghost with Kid Cudi, Nas’ NASIR and Teyana Taylor’s K.T.S.E.
That August, ‘Ye announced he was planning to release another solo album called Yandhi on September 29, 2018, the same day as his Saturday Night Live appearance. But the magical hour of midnight arrived and the project failed to materialize.
Naturally, fans were furious and Kanye’s reality television queen wife Kim Kardashian attempted to do damage control, promising fans the album was coming in November and would be “worth the wait.”
When it didn’t arrive a second time, ‘Ye took off for Africa with his “alien ‘Ye” alter-ego and well, that was it.
The Yandhi chatter was reignited earlier this month when ‘Ye hit the studio in Miami with Timbaland, Lil Wayne, Migos, 2 Chainz and Tee Grizzly.
