MANCHESTER UNITED have agreed a £64million fee for Reall Madrid Striker Alvaro Morata, who will travel to England for a medical on Monday, according to reports in Spain.
The Real Madrid striker had been tipped for a move to Old Trafford since any deal to sign Antoine Griezmann became unlikely following Fifa’s decision to uphold Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban
A move was made even more likely when United confirmed current No.9, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, would be leaving the club this summer.
And radio station Onda Cero report that, on the back of the Swede’s release, the Red Devils moved a step closer to signing a replacement by agreeing a fee for Morata.
The 24-year-old will travel to Manchester on Monday to finalise the move.
Morata was handed his professional debut by current United boss, Jose Mourinho, at Real Madrid in December 2010 for a La Liga victory over Real Zaragoza.
And, a month later, senior team-mate, Gonzalo Higuain, was forced to undergo surgery for a slipped disc and would face four months on the sidelines.
