Bruno Mars, Future, Migos, Trey Songz, and Tamar Braxton
have been announced as the first batch of performers for the June 25 show at
Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater.
“Saturday Night Live” comedian Leslie Jones will be leading
the festivities as this year’s host. Plus, Yara Shahidi, Cardi B, Issa Rae,
Jamie Foxx, La La Anthony, Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, and
Trevor Noah are among the year’s presenters.
Earlier this month, BET announced its nominees for the year.
Beyoncé leads all artists with seven nods, including Best Female R&B/Pop
Artist, Best Collaboration (“Freedom” with Kendrick Lamar), Video of the Year
(“Sorry”), and Album of the Year (LEMONADE).
Mars, who is hitting the stage as a performer, has five noms
this year. Meanwhile, Chance the Rapper, Solange, and Migos have four nods
going in.
More performers are expected to be announced at a later
date. Plus, surprises are always possible. Last year, Beyoncé and Kendrick
Lamar opened the show with an unannounced performance of “Freedom.”
This year’s show is once again part of the BET Experience at
L.A. Live, which is set to run from June 22-25, including performances from Kid
Cudi, Wiz Khalifa, Jhené Aiko, and Bryson Tiller, among others.
The BET Awards will air live from Los Angeles on June 25 at
8 p.m. ET.
