Antoine Griezmann has made contact with Manchester
United after Atletico Madrid saw their transfer ban upheld.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed that Atletico's
ban will remain in place on Thursday, meaning that Diego Simeone's men will be
unable to register
new players until January.
According to El Partidazo de COPE, the France international
reached out to Manchester United following the verdict to tell the Red Devils
that he does not want to leave the club this summer.
Atleti were eyeing moves for Alexandre Lacazette and Diego
Costa to replace the 26-year-old next season, but with the club now unable to
sign a replacement, Griezmann appears to have reaffirmed his commitment to the
side.
On Thursday evening the striker took to Instagram to post a
picture of himself along with the caption ‘Now more than ever #Atleti
#Alltogether’.
Jose Mourinho had reportedly made Griezmann his No.1 transfer
target earlier this year, but this interest has cooled in recent days, with the
Red Devils boss said to be keen on signing a new No.9.
Alvaro Morata, Romelu Lukaku and Andrea Belotti
have been linked with United in recent days.
