Manchester United To Make Transfer Proposal For Ronaldo And Morata

Manchester United are reportedly set to make a Mega transfer offer to Real Madrid that would see Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata head to Old Trafford in exchange for David De Gea and £183 million this summer.

Danny Gallagher of MailOnline, citing reports in Italy, passed along details of the potential offer on Sunday amid speculation Ronaldo could seek an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu because of claims of tax fraud from Spanish authorities.

Ronaldo is currently in Russia for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup with the Portugal national team, which earned a berth in the tournament by winning UEFA Euro 2016. The Daily Mail report noted any deal would have to wait until the Seleccao's run in the event comes to an end.

BBC Sport reported Friday a source close to the Real Madrid sensation said he's "upset" by the allegations of tax fraud and "doesn't want to stay in Spain." The outlet listed Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Juventus as potential suitors with the resources to make a deal.

Ronaldo, who previously played for United from 2003 through 2009, has never closed the door on a possible return to the Premier League club. In 2014, Jamie Jackson of the Guardian provided comments the superstar forward made on MUTV about the idea.

"I love Manchester, to be back, I never know, you never know," he said. "Of course I'm happy at Real Madrid, it's my home, it's my club but Manchester treat me unbelievable so we never know."

That said, the massive swap of talent and cash featuring Ronaldo, Morata and De Gea still falls firmly into the long-shot category.

While there are elements of the transfer that make sense on paper, especially De Gea joining Real Madrid after years of links between the sides, pulling off that type of deal is rare. There are too many variables when that amount of players and money is involved.

Ultimately, transfer rumors involving Ronaldo figure to remain the hottest topic in football for most of the summer, especially once his time at the Confederations Cup is over. It would still qualify as a surprise if he's playing for a club other than Los Blancos when the 2017-18 season gets underway.
