There are a million reasons to ship Selena Gomez and the
Weeknd, including the fact that their songs are basically fated to be played
back to back. While Selena's into pop and the Weeknd has an R&B sound,
their music shares the same hot vibe.
Last week, Selena stans noticed a new entry on her Wikipedia
page for a song called "In Her Element" featuring the Weeknd. The
track would allegedly be produced by Max Martin and drop this year.
But during an interview with radio host TJ Taormina on
Boston's 103.3 AMP earlier this week, Selena shut down any possibility of an
Abelena collaboration.
"No, no we're not," she said.
Later, to drive her point home, she added, "I can't
give those people what they want... I'm sorry, and it's not true."
Just because Selena's denying a collab now doesn't mean it
won't ever happen, though. She recorded the track "I Want You to
Know" with Zedd when they were linked in 2015, and she did a duet with
Justin Bieber in 2012, though it was never officially released. So maybe
there's hope for an Abelena song after all.
